Welcome To The Oak Orientation Initiative
The Oak Orientation Initiative a Non-Governmental Organization was incorporated in 2009 with the sole aim of developing women and youths in the rural areas through empowerment and advocacy programs.
The Oak Orientation Initiative among other aims embarks on the advancement of the well-being of Women and Youth in Local community groups through grass root mutual programs and action plans so as to contribute towards the development of self and overall improvement on their life style.
We promote, support, encourage and facilitate linkages and networking amongst partners and institutions for effective collaboration, communication, training, transfer of information on Government policies and programs and related discipline as a means of enhancement to their role towards contributing to the development of their environment as well as Nation building.
The Board of Trustees of Oak Orientation Initiative are individuals with the desire and aspiration to contribute positively for the good of humanity by making use of their advantages to assist others who are not privileged hence the application of the principle of " I Care, You Care and We all Care".
Some of the Projects embarked on at our adopted community are:
- Basic Education/Literacy through our Back to school Projects where school bags/stationeries/payment of school fees to indigent students.
- Disease prevention and treatment Project: The Oak embarked on a two-day free medical activities at Umuri Health Centre in Umuri, Amaimo, Ikeduru, Owerri Imo - State.
- The team of medical experts and health workers carried out the following health activities.

- Free HIV Testing/Counseling
- Hepatitis Screening/Administration.
- Diabetes Testing/Drug Administration.
- Hypertension screening and treatment
- Deworming exercise for Children and Adult
- Malaria Screening/Treatment
- Malaria Screening/Treatment
- Free Eye Test/Drugs/Provision of Glasses
- Dental Examination and distribution of Dental materials
- Distribution of Birthing Kits to Pregnant Women
- Family Counselling and Basic Hygiene talk
- Nutritional Talk
The recent medical outreach went down evidently well as large
numbers of people who needed urgent medical attention came and were given proper medical attention and other treatments, the first of this kind in this community.
People were seen going back home happily, most especially the ones who had persistent eye issues.
They expressed their gratitude to God and to the OAK Orientation Initiative.
The OAK Orientation Initiative carried out this outreach in collaboration with: ROTARY CLUB OF ABUJA MAITAMA, Abuja, Rotary International District 9125, Nigeria, and ROTARY CLUB OF OWERRI CENTRAL, Rotary International District 9140, Nigeria.
- Water and Sanitation Project; the Oak Orientation Initiative intends to provide Borehole for the Umuri Community Primary School/construction of Toilets in the school Premises, and a hand wash area.
- Economic Empowerment Project: Skill Acquisition Training for Youths/Women in Agriculture and assisting them to benefit in Government Policies in these areas.
